What can I say? It's Cyclone tradition to stop in at 6 am on game day for some chili and beer. The place was packed both inside and out. This is where the tailgating starts.

Was a small place but one of the best I have been to. Service was good on a busy afternoon. From out of town but was treated amazingly. Will differently return. Had a glass with a Vietnam veteran sticker on it and allowed us to take one to display in our American legion.

Great place to go with a group or by yourself. They always make you feel welcome. Best of the best when it comes to "dive" bars. Great Chili during fall and winter!

Used to love their annual chili eating contest, in the 80's. Not sure they still do it but their chili is always great!

Went to TipTop for the first time for Halloween & had an absolute blast! The staff was so friendly, and the vibe is very different than anything else in Ames. As a 26 year old going to a drive bar I felt very welcome and would recommend Tip Top over any bar. PS the bartender Casey makes the BEST Bloody Mary’s!!

I have waited a while to write this review, but I would like to say that I had a very enjoyable lunch there in July of 1957. Two of my fraternity brothers and I had been to a convention in Denver and were on our way to Chicago. We saw the restaurant, liked its looks and subsequently enjoyed the food and hospitality. I have a postcard that I was given then...it is really retro-looking with those 1950's cars outside. I must say that I enjoy that old look much better than the current photo on the Lounge's website...too bad it wasn't kept in the old style...people would be flocking to it for the ambience.

They serve PABST BLUE RIBBON BEER on Tap !!! It used to be #1 Beer in the USA !!! Still is in my book...now I live in Riverside,CA...(I lived in NEVADA..NO...the other place out in LAS VEGAS)...and found this watering hole...I left and drove to Dollar General to sleep it off...Police woke me at 2:30am ...nicest people on the planet !!! Thanks IOWA !!!
